My Approaches
Life Coaching
Life coaching with me is not about me being the expert of your goal, but me being the expert in how to drive you towards your goal. I will always deem you as the expert on your own journey.

At Inner Betterment, coaching is not only about the motivation, but is also about challenging you to make the changes you want in life.

I will draw on your skills and qualities to help you move toward your goal and I will also support you to understand what hinders you - whether this is an internal or external factor, or conscious or unconscious.

I utilise theories/models of change, which I have worked with for years to help you succeed.
Counselling & Psychotherapy
My training is grounded in a "practice based evidence" approach, which means that my way of working has been measured as successful.

I integrate human development theory and attachment theory to inform my relational work, as I understand that early life experiences can impact a person throughout life, until resolved. This is integrated with the Gestalt approach, which believes that the client is the expert of their own experience, and that trauma is resolved by focusing on there here-and-now within a safe relationship and environment.
Further to my approach, I incorporate creativity. Having worked with various kinds of art in my training and somatic (body) work without the use of touch, as trauma is known to be remembered by the body more so than the conscious mind. I also work with a lot of mindfulness which is a scientifically proven approach to regulation.

Whilst I have had the opportunity to do further training in CBT, I declined as my approach and training exceeds this way of working. CBT is also not trauma informed and can leave some clients worse off.

I have witnessed my approach to be successful over the years, and have seen hundreds of clients achieve their journey to inner betterment. This includes counselling/brief therapy (6 sessions) and ongoing clients who worked with me from months to years.

Psychotherapy is about changing at a neurobiological level. It can be life changing and cycle breaking; meaning you change at a profound level. Making changes at this level requires an ongoing commitment which is why psychotherapy can take years. The process is gentle, compassionate and respectful, making way for your inner saboteurs to have a voice.
